From my experience with a MK6 GLI 19x8.5 ET42 (flush) and a MK7 GTI 19x8.5 ET42 (not flush), I would say need 5-8mm. Both cars with 225 width tires. I'm guessing a 19x8.5 ET37 range would work perfect. Also keep in mind going to a 19x8.5 ET39 with a 235 width tire might also fill out those fenders.
